A week or two ago I sent out review copies of THE NEW FILMGOER’S GUIDE TO GOD. Reviews in specialist magazines are going to be important for this book, but sending out a batch of books is a bit like stepping into the dark because I won’t easily find out whether the book has been reviewed or not (the magazine has to decide to review the book . . . then, if yes, find a reviewer . . . then they’ve got to write a review . . . and then space has to be found for publishing it . . . all taking time). However, I was very encouraged to receive an email from John Singleton at the UK journal, ‘The Methodist Recorder’, to say they’d got the book, that they would review it, and when it was published they would send me a pdf of the review.
I thought this was the height both of efficiency and courtesy.
